Generate Green Energy

Hi, If you are like me you are trying to stay ahead of the monthly bills and conserve where you can. I created this page from doing research on green energy solutions. A little bit here a little bit there it all adds up. I have a great concern about our planet and want to do what I can to fight global warming and save our planet for future generations. I hope you will find my tips helpful. Along the way I found some pretty good solutions that I am also sharing with you. Together we can all make a difference.

green energy

Green energy is the term used to describe sources of energy that are considered to be environmentally friendly and non-polluting, such as geothermal, wind, solar, and hydro. Sometimes nuclear power is also considered a green energy source.  Green energy sources are often considered "green" because they are perceived to lower carbon emissions and create less pollution.

Green energy is commonly thought of in the context of electricity generation. A fuller picture requires appreciation of efficient energy use as well as mechanical power, heating and cogeneration. Consumers, businesses, and organizations may purchase green energy to support further development, help reduce the environmental impacts of conventional electricity generation, and increase their nation’s energy independence. Renewable energy certificates (green certificates or green tags) have been one way for consumers and businesses to support green energy. Taken from Wikipedia.org

Alternative Energy Sources – A Brief Glimpse

It seems like the efforts to find the best alternative energy sources are being looked into by lots of countries and most US cities. One proof is the signing of the Kyoto Treaty. The main aim of this concerned group of individuals is to lessen the greenhouse gases and pollutants.

The renewable energy sources have proven to be of great help in reducing the quantity of toxins, which are by-products of the use of energy. These sources also preserve most of the natural resources that people use as sources of energy. Some of the most popular sources of renewable energy are   listed below to give you some basic understanding.

 1. Solar. This works when the sun's rays are trapped into solar cells. The process turns the heat coming from the sun into electricity. When the sun's rays hit solar thermal panels, the power is then converted to heat air or water. The sun's rays can also hit parabolic mirrors and produce steam by heating the water. But you don't need all these scientific processes to be able to benefit from solar power. All you have to do is open the windows and blinds to let the sunshine in. You'll get an instant heater without having to go to any processes that will require conversion of this energy source.

To date, the main disadvantage of using this source is that it is limited. You cannot use it obviously at night and during days when it is raining or even on cloudy days. You can install batteries to store the power and use it later, this, depending on your use of the batteries, could get expensive.

2. Wind. The energy coming from the wind boosts the blades of the wind turbines. As this happens, electricity is produced through the use of electrical generators. In the old days, windmills were created so that machinery could perform physical labor. This included the pumping of water and crushing of grains that are essential in planting and farming.

Now there are large scale wind farms that produce electricity. The end products are then distributed to national electrical grids and small turbines owned by individuals to distribute electricity to far flung areas and homes. There are many advantages of this kind of power. The main one, of course, is that this doesn't produce any by-products that can be harmful to the environment and we will never run out of this source of renewable energy.

 3. Geothermal. This comes from the bottom of the earth. Holes are drilled in certain regions and the hot rocks found underneath produce steam. This is being purified to be used to be able to drive turbines that become power sources for electric generators.

To insure that no harmful by-products are going to be produced in the process, geothermal plants must be created to manage and distribute the power.

 4. Hydroelectric. This power is created through the kinetic energy of water that can drive generators and water turbines. Tidal power can also be used if dams are not available.

Just by reading through the available alternative energy sources, you will be amazed at how nature works wonders. It is our responsibility to care for everything around us  to be able to gain from the benefits that each source of energy can give.

Renewable energy solutions

With the world slowly moving to the much-dreaded energy crisis, it is important that we reduce our dependency on non-renewable sources of energy. Non-renewable sources being renewable are about to get extinct. Renewable energy solutions refer to those energy solutions that can keep churning energy without exhausting the resources. Three types of energy solutions fall into the category of renewable energy solutions: solar energy solutions, hydro energy solutions, and wind energy solutions.

Solar energy solutions: The sun’s energy is the most abundant energy available on earth. Make use of this free energy. You can employ solar power solutions at home. This will not only cut down power bills but also help you contribute to a greener world. Solar power solutions comprise of solar cookers, solar heating systems, solar lighting systems, solar dryers etc.
The sun has always been a source of heat energy and light energy. With the advancement of technology, the sun’s energy can be used to create other forms of energy.

The solar energy systems have many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They are low on maintenance thus saving your time and effort. Also, solar systems give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the systems free after some time. Cooking with solar energy is also considered extremely healthy. Families have started employing solar energy as a power solution at their homes.

Hydro energy solutions: The hydro energy or water energy is an effective renewable energy. One can convert the hydro energy into electrical energy to run vehicles and various electrical appliances. Hydro energy is typically generated on a large scale. It has been estimated that 90 percent of the electrical energy produced by renewable resources is produced solely by hydro power. Dams are built to help generate electricity by tapping the water power.

There have been some concerns about using this energy because it is supposed to adversely affect the water-borne flora and fauna.

Wind energy solutions: Windmills were in existence even in the years before the birth of Christ. They helped tow boats and pump water. Eventually, post-industrialization, they became a source for generating electricity.

Windmills and wind turbines have never been passé. Wind energy can help generate tons of megawatts of electricity. When employed at individual estates, it can help do away with conventional power sources. An excellent renewable source of energy, the wind energy will go a long way in promising a good future to generations to come.
